STUMP GRINDING OR STUMP EXCAVATION?
Excavating a stump involves extensive earthworks to extract stumps and roots, which then presents the issue of how to dispose of a large volume of waste and what to do with the remaining hole.
When stump grinding is carried out the potentially useful woodchip can be left where the stump once was. The roots remaining underground, will eventually rot and decay, releasing valuable nutrients to the surrounding soil. Further grinding of the roots can be carried out if necessary.
WHAT ABOUT THE ROOTS?
If you decide to grind the tree stump, the roots will sit underground and, over many years will decay and break down. The roots will release valuable nutrients into the ground making it extremely fertile.
Of course, with full stump removal, the roots will be removed at the same time as the stump.
